I wonder how you create a living thing with your hands. How do you build something out of nothing? The thought of the task baffles me, but to my father, it is mundane.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you what a magnificent doctor and artist you are! My two surgeries a few months ago - nose repair and facelift - changed my life. Everyone remarks how beautiful the work is. I feel I have lived on both sides of appearance; that is, going from droopy and haggard to looking vibrant and pleasing.

Breast Reduction Surgery Patient Care Information

The patient can shower in 24 to 48 hours. It is recommended that she wear a brassiere night and day for fourteen days, and then during the day for an additional six weeks to support and protect the breast incisions. After that time, she can wear a brassiere if she desires. Although there is often a “tired feeling” for a week or more after a breast reduction, discomfort is moderate. After a few days, little pain medication is required. Usually the patient can return to work in one to three weeks, although heavy lifting and aerobic exercise should be avoided for a month.

Complications can follow any surgery. Bleeding and infection are uncommon, although if they occur, another operation may be required for drainage. Scars are present around the nipple/areola area and extend inferiorly to the inframammary fold, and then horizontally in the inframammary fold. Once scars are mature they are usually acceptable, but not invisible. Anesthesia of the nipple commonly occurs in one or both breasts after breast reduction. Occasionally the nipple skin or other skin over the breast will have a poor blood supply. An area of skin or nipple can die. Although this occurs very infrequently, it is associated with slower healing and further scarring with distortion of the nipple areolar complex or breast shape. Troublesome complications are uncommon after breast reduction, but can occur. Most women are quite pleased with their improved appearance and function.
