I wonder how you create a living thing with your hands. How do you build something out of nothing? The thought of the task baffles me, but to my father, it is mundane.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you what a magnificent doctor and artist you are! My two surgeries a few months ago - nose repair and facelift - changed my life. Everyone remarks how beautiful the work is. I feel I have lived on both sides of appearance; that is, going from droopy and haggard to looking vibrant and pleasing.

Breast Reduction
Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty, reduces the size of large breasts and hopefully, the associated medical problems of neck and back pain due to excessive weight. The procedure removes fat, breast gland tissue, and skin. The size of the areola (the darker skin around the nipple) is also decreased in size, when appropriate. The goal is a smaller, better shaped breast in proportion with the rest of the body.
Many women with large breasts have significant problems with neck ache, backache, shoulder gouging from the straps of their brassiere, and wetness, rashes ,and intertrigo underneath their breasts. They often have difficulty fitting clothes and exercising. These problems are usually significantly improved by decreasing the size, weight, and bulk of the breast by reduction. Although incisional scars are present, the overall breast shape is improved. Most women are happy after a breast reduction and often wish they had had the procedure performed months or years earlier.
By definition, a large breast has too much breast gland or “filling”, excessive skin covering the breast, and an abnormally low and usually enlarged nipple areolar complex. A breast reduction is performed in the hospital under general anesthesia. Little bleeding occurs and no transfusion is required. During a breast reduction, the excess gland and skin are removed, the areola (colored area around the nipple) is elevated and reduced in size, and a more uplifted breast shape is created. Although breast appearance is usually significantly improved after a breast reduction, it is primarily performed for functional reasons. For this reason, it is may be reconstructive, and not cosmetic. When a significant amount of breast tissue (at least 1 lb. or more) requires removal because of neck ache, backache, rash, and difficulty exercising, the cost of breast reduction may be covered by insurance. It is performed as an outpatient.
Most patients having breast surgery are treated as outpatient. Occasionally a lady requiring complicated revision of an old breast augmentation, placement of an expander for breast reconstruction, or breast reduction are admitted overnight for pain control.Drains are not used routinely. Breast reduction patients normally have mild to moderate discomfort. Oozing from the stitch line of a breast reduction on the night of surgery does occur. This is normal. The dressing is removed the morning after surgery and the patient may shower and wear a bra.
